It's Time To Vote, Mutha f*ckas!

The Music Video Challenge deathmatch deadline has passed as of May 14, 2007, 11:59PM PST.

Despite the absence of almost any fun, nasty, spiteful, shit-talking, this was a remarkable deathmatch. 20 entries. 20! From all over the world, no less. The array of different talents and styles would make my mother proud if she still spoke to me.

We now hand the final decision over to the community. Vlog Deathmatch is, first and foremost, a competition. No one can win unless everyone else loses. No bitching, no moaning, no crying, no whining. Shut up and take what's coming to you.

Voting ends Monday, May 21, 11:59 PM PST. 2 votes allowed per IP address. Please cast your vote:

Wow, the votes have certainly changed since I voted this morning.

I have watched all the entries. I damn near burned my dinner. There be gold in them hills of video.

I'm only suppose to pick two?

I see why there was a reduction in smackination - y'all was deep in the basement with this crop of goodies.

After I chisel the charcoal off of my chop I shall cast my ballot. No matter who wins I'd still ask for a re-count. Too close to call.

Great entries, everyone. Thanks to all for joining up and getting involved! :D

Great deathmatch, loved every video.

I've gotta say though, I thought there would be more original/podcast-safe music chosen. Especially with recent events.

Oh well, now to decide who to vote for :o)

Um, any reason why the total vote tally is suddenly down by 800 votes...?

Irina Slutsky called you out & that was funny. You got my vote!

Like the 80's vibe

Ok, my picks are the Vlog Show's (Slutsky's performance redeemed her from the Boobs in a Box garbage) and I don't care who was involved with it. Vlog show's entry is great writing, great beats, and great editing. Nathan Miller's entry is my second choice because his stuff is also original and fun to watch. This Burg TV, give it up already- learn how to street fight and move to a neighborhood where you can get more square footage for your dollars.

There are lots of bad things going on with this vote, I'm afraid. The most egregious problems have been sorted out at the moment (check the update to this post), but I don't have the time to babysit the poll form, unfortunately.

It's a damn shame there are so many assholes out there, but whaddaya gonna do?

685 votes! Ha, ha, ha. I like that sense of humor. Maybe we should be punk about it and say we're all our own winners. If you worked with others, you are all winners in that team. After all it was the chemistry that made all work together. Right people?

I should have done this, but I found out too late about it... I have some original music of mine & friends that would have kicked some ass.. Plus with my vlogging skills... Oh snap!! It would have been mad crazy!!!
but my vote goes out to Irina Slutsky.. Word.

holla at your boy in the streets~!!!

Has anyone else noticed the ip blocker only seems to work for a 24 hour period?

I check the results about once a day, and I've noticed that it keeps asking me to vote more than my first two times.

I'm not changing servers or comps or anything.

@Doc Pop - depending on your internet provider, they might recycle your IP once in a while.

Mr Woolf:

It's really unfair to publish this statement:

Someone has cast 685 votes for theburg.tv's entry. They have all been removed. There is other shit going on that I'm sorting out. If a pattern is found there will be disqualifications, I don't see any other choice. Enjoy it while it lasts...

This infers that The Burg was somehow complacent in the vote-tampering. I can assure you no one involved in The Burg would do something so silly or stupid. You need to rephrase your statement. It reflects unfairly/poorly upon The Burg.

Glad that last comment was deleted, although it still got forwarded to anyone who subscribes to the comments feed.

That stricken comment was bullshit, and Anonymous ought to be ashamed of themselves. Any and all trashtalking at the Deathmatch should be done up front, face to face--or screen to screen in this case--and with a wink of the eye and a sly grin, NOT viciously. You were vicious, Anonymous. Totally unnecessary. See, my name is right there for all to say, so I will say "you are being kind of a putz, Anonymous!".

I was never good at smacktalk.

And I'm also winking while simultaneously smiling. Putz.

I cannot speak for Steve, but I don't think implicating the Burg team was his intent. This competition is all in good fun and surely no one is so stupid and lame as to rig the voting in their favor when they already stand a good chance of winning and the competition is so exciting. Me, I assumed that it was someone doing it on their behalf, and quite poorly. Sorry, but there's no way over 500 votes magically appeared in the span of a minute. They were bogus and deserved to be removed.

So get off Steve's back.

The Deathmatch is all about the love.

And, of course, death. Because it's a Deathmtch. That means you can die.
;)

No one is inferring anything! Notice how Steve said "someone has cast..." I don't think theBurg members had anything to do with it -- I'm sure most people agree. But the bottom line is we have to keep the contest fair. Without initiating a full-blown investigation, how else can we protect the integrity of the event?

Referring to person who wrote the deleted comment:

Miss B you rock. Totally agree.

Anonymous, if you have something childish to say a fellow vlogger - say it, however, man show yourself...if you don't have the dignity to do so, don't come back...

sorry about the sour comment, my point - sitting behind the comfort of your computer, drop a nasty comment and ruin someone's day really is an awful thing to do.

whoops - guess this is the problem with being too busy to follow this stuff...

i actually think that my "update" comment should come down. i was planning on removing it once i was able to filter out what was going on. the "mr. woolf" part is weird, yeah, but that commenter is right.

in the course of the day, i got too busy to finish what i started and i forgot about the whole thing.

i never thought anyone from the burg was doing anything funny. everyone has fans who will do things that the creators can't control. i fucking love theburg.tv, man.

there are tons of tech people who love these shows, and my poor little poll script that I wrote in 10 minutes like 8 months ago is not going to stand up to a talented hacker. so it's something we all have to deal with until someone gives me something better to use.

anyway, i've gone on too long. the update is coming down right now. I return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

the fact that there are SO many votes is awesome. Atleast 1000 ppl have voted.

I've been thinking about this contest, and I think it's hit an evolutionary point for content on the net.

Just as an example of different possible ways of creating a music video, we've pretty much covered everthing from the computer cam, to full out MTV style video productions... low & high (relative speaking) budget wise as well.

It's like distilling the best anyone would likely find on youtube and putting them in one place... no two videos are alike... and ever video is well worth the efforts involved.

Even after this contest, I think it'll be interesting seeing how fan/artist videos will fare....

AND for the indie artists here with music videos.. Last.FM allows you to upload your video and tag it to your song. *IF* that isn't an indication of just how critical these types of projects are going to be in the near future... I don't know what will indicate it.
(but then again I'm a huge fan of Last.fm)
