The Silent Air Guitar Challenge deathmatch deadline has passed as of March 5, 2007, 12:00AM.
What can I say? You all make me proud of the concept of a Deathmatch. I don't know how the next one will top these... except maybe if there's a sponsor to pay the winner some big cash...
Anyway, as is tradition with my people, we now hand the final decision over to the community. Vlog Deathmatch is, first and foremost, a competition. this was the most difficult vote I ever decided, it's impossible for me to decide between casey and mickey, you'll never know my vote but I think they should be equal
No sound... well its different.
but there should be sounds, but no music, just using your voice for the guitar sounds..

miki's video clearly had the most production value, but veronica is sporting a nice D-cup... tough choice.
These were all awesome. I voted for Veronica (tight shirt!) but wanted to vote for Casey so bad. By far the best two though. Galacticast blows my mind balls!
I totally agree with gian! I hope people aren't just voting w/o watching the vids. Bonny's was my favorite. C'mon...she's got a "TANK" and those flying boxes!

All the support is very nice, but everyone should be voting for the video they like the best! If that's me, that's great, but all the others girls rocked out really hard, and look awesome doing it too.
I want it to be a fair match as much as anyone! I mean, I know I rock, but I didn't have exploding boxes or crazy makeup, either!

I voted Veronica also. I think r3wind's suggestion of video responses is a pretty good one to attempt to combat gaming the system. Some kind of non-anonymous and verifiable voting system would be useful.
If there's a way to count the IP addresses and the votes, go ahead and do it. It may not turn out to be the landslide that it currently is, but I don't think the outcome's going to change at all.
I voted for Micki. She showed the best air form. It's not all about property damage and rolling around on the floor, people.
OK, maybe it is, but the sight of everyone bending the necks of their air-guitars bothered me. And not one of you dressed as Angus Young. I was looking forward to women in school uniforms.
Any system can be gamed. Comments on a video are as easily gamed, as well. And I'm not too keen on sifting through 1900 comments to figure out a winner.
The poll script allows 2 votes per IP address, and also limits 1 vote per session. So a user would have to have to: A) Destroy cookies or quit and re-launch their browser (or use another browser or computer) to vote twice on 1 IP; B) Use a proxy service (unless they run their own DNS server) that they would have to continually reload, along with some kind of automated way to destroy their cookies/sessions.
Game-able? Yes. How likely? Not very. An awful lot of work for someone with little or no payoff, especially when Veronica herself is calling for poll audits!
Honestly, this thing is for FUN. Veronica is a very well-known Internet personality, and Ryan (Block, her boyfriend) probably even moreso.
So all the moaning and groaning about gaming the system is filtering out into the ether with little or no validity.
If someone out there has put in the time to game this poll form (which was coded in about 10 minutes), shoot me an email and let me know. This way you can get the recognition and we can improve the system for the next time around. swoolf [ a t ] gmail [ d o t ] com

There have been comments about the voting system since we put the form up, hence my perceived moaning and groaning.
I'm all for figuring out the best way to do it while making the winner a clearly decided one.
